Selecting the Team to Represent a Given Country

If the country has its own competition

Six or seven countries have their own evaluation case competition. If a team that has won their national competition registers for WECC, it will have priority over any others that wish to represent the country.

Other countries

If two or more teams apply to represent a country, the one that has the most points according to the following criteria is selected as the official WECC entry.

Current academic program of each team member: 1 point for bachelor, 2 points for masters, 3 points for doctoral

Nationality of each team member: 1 point if a national of the country being represented

Nature of academic program of each team member: 1 point if directly related to evaluation

If there is a tied score, the team that registered first is selected to represent the country in WECC.

The other team (or teams) will be invited to participate in WECC unofficially. An unofficial team will the memorable experience of working as a team to produce and submit an analysis of the WECC case within a very tight time frame. However, their submissions will not be forwarded to the panel of judges.

WECC encourages unofficial teams to have their coach, or some other local evaluation expert, read the case and then assess the team’s submission using the same form that WECC judges use. A link to that form appears in the WECC case.

All WECC team members and coaches, whether in official or unofficial teams, are entitled to a certificate of participation from WECC.
